One night on the way back from a long trip I asked my wife to verify a suspicious 511 sign with her smartphone. After watching her fumble with several traffic apps, I realized they all took a huge amount of time and interactivity to get traffic info. I built Tunnel Traffic so that traffic data would be as easy to see as the amount of gas left in your car's tank. Since that time, drivers of all ages have used the app and found it valuable. Our initial prototype only monitored a 10 mile radius and 4 of the bridge-tunnels that connect the Hampton Roads region, yet it was used 70,000 times by 7,000 people in one month and quickly ranked amongst the most popular apps in the region, #2 Southside and #1 on the Peninsula.
